When we hire an employee does paying them more ensure that we get a better result?
Our tendency is to assume value and relate it to cost directly.
But what if we dug a little harder? Found someone who was undiscovered but had an amazing work ethic? What if we looked in industries outside our own and found gold among the rocks?
Finding great people can often be like finding hidden gems. Sure we can buy the already shined pieces from the high priced jewelry store but often our better value is to discover directly the raw material and polish/train it ourselves.
The question is: “are you ready to work at it?”
If you do this right, to say you might have a sustainable competitive advantage would be an understatement.
